Privacy at Curato
We believe in privacy by design. Our goal is to handle as little of your data as possible. Here’s a simple breakdown of how we protect your privacy.
What We Collect
For server transfers, we temporarily store the file/text content and its metadata (like filename and size). For analytics, we collect anonymous usage data, such as page visits, only if you consent.
Automatic Deletion
Your shared files and text are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers after the first download or when their short-term expiration time is reached (max 7 days).
End-to-End Encryption
By default, all your transfers are end-to-end encrypted in the browser. This means we, the server administrators, can never access the content of your files or text.
Local-Only History
Your transfer history is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage on your device. This information is never sent to our servers and is completely private to you.
Special Features
**Peer-to-Peer (P2P):** For even greater privacy, our Torrent and Room features use direct P2P connections. In these cases, your data is never sent to our servers at all.
**Lockers & Shares:** Files in permanent Shares and private Lockers are stored on our servers but are NOT end-to-end encrypted. This allows for easy public access (for Shares) or multi-device access (for Lockers). Do not use these features for highly sensitive data.
